We used the Scopus database to perform a bibliometric review of the cross-cultural management (CCM) literature. A comprehensive search elicited 20,104 documents which included 14,492 peer-reviewed articles. An examination of the titles and abstracts of these articles led to identification of 8255 articles that fit the scope of CCM. This was the basis of our review. We used VOSviewer, a bibliometric analysis software program, to perform author co-citation and keyword co-occurrence analyses. The author co-citation analysis showed the major scholars cited in the literature within the following four main areas of CCM research: international human resource management, culture and cultural intelligence, global leadership, and cross-cultural adjustment. The keyword co-occurrence analysis surfaced four main themes in the literature: cultural intelligence and expatriation, cultural identity and adaptation, intercultural communication and intercultural competence, and cultural competence in healthcare and education. Through this review, scholars can gain a better understanding of the scope of CMM research and identify potential avenues for future research.
