Building on conservation of resources (COR) theory, this qualitative study examines how women leaders experience and manage perfectionism. It highlights the dual nature of perfectionism as both a strength and a challenge, influenced by resource availability and self-awareness. The research underscores the compounded pressures faced by women leaders, especially women of color, and the pivotal role of self-awareness in mitigating negative career impacts. Participants noted that resource depletion often exacerbates perfectionistic tendencies, which can affect career outcomes. When effectively managed, our study shows that perfectionism can drive career growth and serve as a valuable organizational asset.
