14469: Measuring What Matters: Entrepreneurial Value Creation Through Impact Measurement and Management

This Professional Development Workshop (PDW) addresses the evolving landscape of value creation measurement within entrepreneurial startups, with particular emphasis on impact reporting practices and measurement frameworks across global markets. Drawing from research spanning Europe, North and Latin America, this interactive workshop brings together academics and practitioners to explore how entrepreneurs can effectively measure and communicate their total value creation. This PDW specifically examines how entrepreneurs of socially or environmentally motivated startups measure their impact according to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks, addressing the growing disconnect between financial and impact reporting frequencies. Our PDW will provide a structured platform for scholars and practitioners alike to exchange insights on how firms track, measure, and report their impact outcomes while aligning their strategies to frameworks such as the United Nations' SDGs (SDGs). Through evidence-based discussions of regional variations in reporting practices, participants will explore how European firms' emphasis on environmental metrics and regulatory compliance contrasts with North American firms' focus on DEI measures, for example, while examining emerging market adaptations in Latin America. The PDW will highlight practical solutions for standardizing impact measurement frequency and depth across different geographical contexts while maintaining local relevance.
