Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has transformative potential for entrepreneurship, especially in assessing new venture ideas. However, the debate continues over whether GenAI can automate or augment human-driven assessments, with concerns about marginalizing ideas focused on non-profit objectives due to the technology’s objectivity and limited sensitivity to social considerations. This study conducts two experiments involving 450 entrepreneurs to compare their assessments of new venture ideas with ChatGPT's ones. The first experiment investigates how manipulated ChatGPT assessments (positive, negative, neutral) influence entrepreneurs’ intent to start a venture. The second explores whether ChatGPT can predict entrepreneurs' intent to start a new venture based on idea descriptions, controlling for entrepreneurial orientation (profit, social, hybrid). This research aims to enhance our understanding of how AI can transform entrepreneurship, influencing decision-making and the future of work. It also provides insights for developing more efficient processes for evaluating new venture ideas and promoting human-technology collaboration.
