The professional digital environment (PDE), made up of the technological tools provided by organizations for their employees (hardware and software such as computers, smartphones, tablets and associated applications or services…), now occupies a core role in most organizations' information systems. However, many organizations have yet to formalize or even optimize the use of these tools, not only on the technical part. This lead in wasted time, wasted skills and lower socio-economic performance. The purpose of this poster is to present a conceptual framework to help demonstrating that knowledge and mastery of this environment are fundamental to internal cohesion and, consequently, to organizational performance. This research work (on progress) explores how the mapping, identification and popularization of the Professional Digital Environment (PDE) enable organizations to optimize their efficiency. We'll also look at the responsibility of the decision-making teams behind the implementation of these PDEs, and their strategic choices in terms of deployment, team training and adaptability of both equipment and software selected (imposed or not, for example). For this poster proposal, we choose to present our central hypothesis that links PDE mastery to an increased employee’s autonomy by better management of information flows and reduction of organizational dysfunctions.
