This study evaluates the sustainability consciousness (SC) of Brazilian future leaders, exploring the influence of sociodemographic factors on the potential of emerging leaders to champion sustainability. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 208 students from public and private higher education institutions using the Sustainability Consciousness Questionnaire (SCQ). The results reveal that Brazilian undergraduates exhibit high sustainability consciousness, with strong knowledge and attitudes toward sustainability, but less consistent sustainable behaviors. Gender differences were observed, with women showing higher SC than men. This research contributes to the literature by addressing gaps in leader evaluation, the integration of sustainability principles in developing countries, and the use of SCQ in Education for Sustainable Development. The findings can inform policymakers and educational institutions in developing sustainability-driven leadership to address global challenges.
