This study addresses the question: How do leaders develop and coordinate resources to sustain multiple episodes of scaling, rather than achieving just a single instance of growth? Through a longitudinal case study of Digit, a high-growth digital transformation consultancy in Sweden, we explore how leaders strategically accumulate, leverage, and reconfigure human, cultural, social, and symbolic capital to enable sustained scaling. Our findings reveal that capital accumulation and orchestration are intertwined in a dynamic process that drives continuous growth and performance. Specifically, leaders orchestrate these capitals to secure positional advantages within fields, creating a self-reinforcing cycle that attracts additional resources and fosters expansion into new practice fields. Building on these insights, we develop a process model that advances the understanding of capital accumulation and orchestration as central mechanisms for sustaining scalable growth.
