Entrepreneurial Orientation has been a central concept in entrepreneurship research, traditionally defined by three dimensions: innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking. However, EO’s evolution into a multi-level construct applied to individuals, teams, and organizations has exposed gaps in its ability to fully capture “being entrepreneurial”. This study adopts a bottom-up approach to re-conceptualizing being entrepreneurial and moving beyond EO’s legacy. We propose a modern, unified framework by examining diverse definitions and components of entrepreneurial behavior, disposition, and competency. This research offers a fresh perspective on entrepreneurship, addressing its complexities across contexts and advancing theoretical understanding of what it means to be entrepreneurial today.
