Research on the dynamics of career calling has expanded significantly, yet questions remain about whether and how a career calling evolves with time and during key life transitions. This study examines the interplay between calling and pivotal transitions, uncovering its dynamic and relational nature. Central to the discussion is the relationship between calling and career outcomes, with calling often positioned as both a source of fulfillment and a pathway to a prosperous life. While traditionally framed as either an internal pursuit of self-realization or an external aim to contribute to societal well-being, this study reveals that calling is more complex: a dynamic and relational process integrating both dimensions. Drawing insights from in-depth conversations with individuals across varied cultural and professional landscapes, including technology, education, spiritual care and healthcare. This study illuminates how diverse life paths, personal life, values and professions influence the evolving nature of calling. For some, spirituality weaves together notions of vocation and interconnectedness, while others ground their sense of purpose in profound relational roles or impactful life events. Over time, participants navigate an interplay between self-realization, spiritual meaning, and societal contribution, with each aspect shaping and enriching the other. By adopting a qualitative approach to explore these themes, this research underscores the universality and adaptability of calling as a holistic construct, particularly during transformative life transitions.
