The human resource recruitment ecosystem is rapidly transforming. Disruptive AI-based technologies increasingly impact strategies and practices for recruiting talent in both conventional and non-standard work arrangements. This paper proposes a conceptual framework for hybrid recruitment that integrates AI-assisted recruitment and structured behavioral face-to-face interviewing to maximize person-skill fit with organizational needs. At the core of our framework is a novel approach termed the Hybrid Recruitment Construct (HRC), consisting of three elements that capture characteristics of an AI-assisted recruitment system. These are likely to be meaningful to the shifting nature of the recruitment ecosystem: 1) AI-assisted recruitment; 2) Person–Skill Fit; 3) Structured Behavioral Interview. Our research fulfills the vital need for a strategic framework, hybrid in nature, combining both technology and human recruitment. Pending empirical validation, the proposed framework has the potential to serve as a foundation for emergent research on AI-assisted recruitment practices for improving recruitment process.
