This professional development workshop (PDW) addresses the critical need to expand Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) research beyond Western-centric frameworks, advocating for a more comprehensive and culturally informed understanding of DEI in global management scholarship. Through structured dialogue between international scholars and workshop participants, this session will examine key challenges in global DEI research, including methodological approaches for cross-cultural data collection, theoretical frameworks that accommodate diverse cultural perspectives, and strategies for publishing research with non-Western samples. Participants will also gain insights into navigating the structural and institutional barriers that often limit global DEI research, such as access to diverse international samples, funding disparities, and publication biases favoring Western-centric studies. The session will highlight innovative approaches to integrating local perspectives, phenomena, and practices into existing DEI theories and frameworks, ensuring their relevance across varied global contexts. Additionally, panelists will share practical strategies for building and maintaining effective international research collaborations, fostering cross-cultural partnerships, and co-creating knowledge that bridges diverse academic traditions. The goal is to equip participants with concrete strategies for conducting globally relevant DEI research while fostering a scholarly community that can advance more inclusive and culturally informed management theory.
