15461: Acknowledging the Pluriverse in Social and Environmental Responsibilities

In this PDW, we aim to critically discuss current notions of social and environmental responsibilities - largely shaped within North America and Europe - and instead better acknowledge and integrate a multiplicity of ontologies and epistemologies. So far, most research has addressed ecological and social issues with different theoretical and empirical perspectives, yet, the majority of this research still privileges Western voices and organizational settings. The frequency and severity of current interrelated social and ecological crises, however, calls for different approaches and perspectives, opening spaces to integrate non-Western voices in the responsible management field. Therefore this PDW aims to broaden our perspective on social and environmental responsibilities by including voices from underrepresented and marginalized regions and communities. Furthermore, this PDW aims to create an interactive and supportive space for scholars of all career stages to discuss their ongoing research and research ideas in a roundtable format. Our aim is to build a growing community around pluriversal perspectives on social and environmental responsibilities, by facilitating a discussion between scholars who are either currently engaged on the topic or are interested in studying it.
