This Professional Development Workshop (PDW) aims to explore how negotiations—whether explicitly focused on sustainability or not—can meaningfully address broader societal and environmental interests. Drawing on frameworks from environmental studies, political science, and negotiation theory, participants will engage in discussions about the challenges and potential solutions for fostering socially responsible negotiation practices. We aim to inspire new research ideas, practical frameworks, and teaching approaches to incorporate sustainability as a central negotiation objective. The workshop will follow a two-step format, beginning with a panel discussion to attract broad interest, and propose first research questions and develop the initial hypothesis. Following a brief pause for attendees to transition, the session will continue as a focused PDW in which participants will present their ideas and receive constructive feedback from senior researchers. This PDW will also introduce the upcoming special issue in the Negotiation Journal n sustainability and socially responsible negotiation, encouraging participants to contribute to this important discourse.
