20428: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Entrepreneurship: Challenges and Opportunities

This PDW explores the vital role of interdisciplinarity in advancing entrepreneurship research. Despite its recognized value, interdisciplinary research remains underutilized and/or undervalued in entrepreneurship, often facing practical barriers and a lack of clear pathways for successful implementation. This interactive workshop tackles these challenges head-on. Led by expert and engaged ENT scholars, participants will first gain insights and explore the intersection of entrepreneurship with disciplines like anthropology and economics, uncovering new perspectives and methodologies and learning from realized and unrealized promises about interdisciplinarity. Second, they will learn from experts hearing from journal editors (with experience from leading entrepreneurship journals, among the others) about the challenges and rewards of managing interdisciplinary research in entrepreneurship. Third, participants will share experiences and engage in dynamic discussions with fellow researchers, exploring successes, failures, and best practices in interdisciplinary collaboration. This PDW will make it possible to develop actionable strategies and collectively craft a research and policy agenda to promote interdisciplinary entrepreneurship research, including identifying potential research questions and collaborative projects/platforms. Also, the PDW will facilitate the creation of long-lasting connections, forging new collaborations and a community of scholars motivated to discuss about and practice with interdisciplinarity in their research endeavors. This PDW is ideal for scholars seeking to expand their methodological and theoretical horizons, enhance their research impact, and contribute to solving complex societal challenges through interdisciplinary entrepreneurship research.
