Entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs) are crucial for regional innovation and economic growth. However, little attention has been given to the investigation of ecosystems at different levels of analysis which would contribute to an understanding of the generation of entrepreneurship within those regions. This theoretical omission is important because various individual, firm-specific and macro-level actors, structures and processes constitute the fundamental elements of an ecosystem based on which policymakers can provide insightful information on regional policies. This professional development workshop (PDW) aims to foster research engagement by providing an opportunity to advanced doctoral students and established scholars to explore entrepreneurial ecosystems at various levels of analysis. We accomplish this objective by (1) educating scholars on the current trends and topics in the entrepreneurial ecosystems research program (2) discussing intriguing research questions that could advance scholarly understanding of entrepreneurial ecosystems at various levels of analysis. To deliver on our objective, eminent ecosystem scholars, namely Erik Stam, David Audretsch, Christina Theodoraki, Riccardo Fini, Angelo Cavallo, and Petra Moog, have agreed to serve as discussants, panel members, and mentors in this session.
