This PDW will apply immersive approaches to ‘strengths-based’ skills development, essential to forging symbiotic relationships with workplace Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) which is changing routine management roles, influencing human capabilities. The rapid evolution of workplace GAI brings unique challenges for management education with managers needing innovative ways to lead staff effectively. The interpretation and execution of GAI data and decisions requires future-proofing of ‘soft skills’ to reduce the risk of poor strategic performance. This reinforces the critical role management education plays in developing students with essential ‘human capabilities’ for optimal management and workplace productivity. Building capabilities and strengths for future management roles in GAI workplaces is riddled with complexity given their individual situational and behavioral nuances. A ‘strengths-based framework’ is a transformative way of accelerating human capabilities, aiding the achievement of excellence in areas more aligned with an individual’s innate independent strengths and situational contexts. Participants will engage with and implement a four-dimensional strength-based framework (thinking, emotional, relational and execution strengths) and re-conceptualise it for GAI workplace contexts. Through immersion in solutions-based development participants will identify independent strengths and innovative ways to build human capabilities that are transferable to students and faculty in diverse disciplines, particularly management education. This PDW will (1) apply the framework to address determinants of ‘soft-skills’ through a strength-based framework for management education; (2) explore tangible examples of the transformative power and impact of the framework in action; (3) develop a Framework of Independent Strengths with action strategies from key insights.
