Recent management studies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have predominantly focused on the organizational adoption and implementation of AI, leaving a significant gap in understanding how firms innovate and compete with AI technologies. This gap has become even more pressing with the emergence of Generative AI (Gen AI) and its profound impact across industries. This PDW aims to address this gap by examining technology strategies for AI innovation and exploring how Gen AI is reshaping competitive advantage and firm strategies across industries. This focus highlights the broader implications of Gen AI for competitive strategy, including its influence on industry dynamics, competitive resources, and firm boundaries. With a panel of leading scholars in AI, innovation, and strategy, this PDW seeks to pave a new research direction. The speakers will contribute to three dedicated discussion tracks, introducing their research and sharing broader perspectives to stimulate promising research questions. The session will conclude with roundtable discussions between speakers and attendees, providing an opportunity to exchange thoughts, receive feedback, and explore novel research ideas.
