22574: How Management Foster the Common Good: Research, Teaching and Impact Perspectives

The emergence of grand challenges, such as environmental degradation, income inequality and human dignity denial, and their detrimental effects on the common good have called into question the foundations of the capitalist system, the relevance of management research and the role of business schools in educating leaders for society this PDW aims to explore how management can foster the common good through research, teaching, and impact. A panel of experienced scholars will address: (1) challenges in fostering the common good in management, (2) research opportunities to advance the common good, (3) strategies for impactful teaching and research and (4) approaches to integrating the common good into management education and practice. Attendees will gain insights into fostering the common good in management theory, education, and practice. We will allow for a collaborative space to discuss options on how management can serve the interests of humanity and make business schools leaders in this historical moment of social change.

Before assisting to our PDW and for engaging the discussion between participants and panelists, we recommend all participants to view in advance the uploaded link (find it below) to 5 pre-recorded videos from our panelists which answers the following questions:

3. Can you provide some examples from research, teaching, and practice that relate management and the common good?

On Saturday 26th of July at 8:30am, the dynamics of our PDW would be as follows:

• Panelists - Presentation of 10 minutes based on the pre-recorded video. The final slide would be on the challenge you would like to discuss with the participants, which would be included in the pre-recorded video
• Roundtables to discuss the challenges proposed by the speakers. The speakers will rotate around the tables to engage in discussions
• A representative of each table presents the conclusions of the table in 5 minutes
• Wrap up and final thoughts from the speakers
