The world is rapidly changing, and these changes affect how international business works. For example, the introduction of technological advances like AI, increasing geopolitical tensions and trade frictions, increasing anti-globalization, the growing need for businesses to address environmental crises, and the prevalence of major conflicts which divide the world have changed what is the most effective way for firms to carry out international business (IB). Thus, this needs to be taken into account when teaching international business. An urgent need exists for changing what we teach in IB courses to ensure it matches current reality, but there is a tendency to teach what we have for years. This PDW will explore how what we should teach in international business classes should change and explore how three important topics are emerging/changing in international business—AI, the Energy transition, and global value chains. In the PDW presenters will show how they have taught these three topics in some depth so that attendees will walk away from the session understanding concretely how they could teach these topics. The session will also include small breakout groups to discuss the topics in more detail as well as other ways in which IB teaching needs to evolve to reflect our rapidly changing world. The PDW presenters/facilitators are experienced teachers who have taught in more than 20 countries.
