The world of work is dramatically being shaped by rapid advances in technology (e.g., developments in artificial intelligence), societal shifts in values (e.g., increasing emphasis on work flexibility), and unexpected global events (e.g., pandemics). As such, the need for research that helps people, organizations, and society to navigate the changing nature of work has never been greater. Management scholars can play a key role in developing research that addresses the pressing issues inherent in the future of work. This PDW’s goal is to support the development of high-quality and impactful management research that speaks to important challenges in the future of work and how these challenges may be addressed. The PDW will involve two key components that utilize different formats to facilitate engagement, starting with a panel of scholarly experts who have editorial experience at top journals (AMR, AMD, OBHDP, Organization Science, ASQ, ANNALS), and followed by roundtable breakout discussions between attendees and our Editorial panelists on predefined topics relevant for publishing high-quality and impactful research on the future of work. All attendees will have the opportunity to share their contact information to facilitate community building around scholars engaged with research on the future of work beyond the AOM meeting.
