Internationalization is a clear trend in academic careers, but there are still notable variations between academic career systems in different countries that can make an international move challenging. Organized by the HR Ambassador Program this workshop is aimed at helping attendees to explore ways in which to navigate their current and potential international careers in academia. The PDW features a panel of several speakers on the topic of international careers. Panelists will provide insights into various academic systems and international career mobility of scholars both from a research perspective and their own personal experiences. The panel will be followed by an interactive session where attendees can meet with panelists and HR ambassadors to discuss past experiences of and future plans for an international academic career. The interactive session will be organized around four round tables which will focus on different career stages including: Ph.D. abroad, post-doctoral and other non-tenure track positions, tenure-track faculty position abroad, and visiting scholar experiences. The PDW will present attendees with diverse perspectives on working globally, to ultimately aid them in planning their own international careers and to advise colleagues on opportunities and challenges of different academic career systems around the globe.
