In this special session at 2025 Annual Meeting we will further explore the impact of policy restrictions on academic work and scholarly exchange. This session, open to all AOM members, is led by the DEI division with collaborative support from OMT, SIM, MSR, CMS, and ONE. This session is organized in relation to the recent AOM statement on Academic Freedom, Scientific Inquiry, and Scholarly Exchange of research, and the resources provided in complement to it. The session will start with a distinguished panel introducing the AOM statement and the current state of affairs. At roundtables, participants will get the opportunity to 1. share their views and experiences, 2. Share about ways to navigate the various ways in which they are affected as academics, and 3. Reflect together on how to strengthen the AOM community and support each other going forward. Collected insights and action points will then be discussed in plenum and shared with all participants.
There is a pre-registration form for this session to ensure optimal organization. There are approximately 80 seats available, and priority will be given to advance sign-ups (up to 10 minutes before the session start time).
Please note that the event will take place off-site on Friday, July 25th, at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Kunstakademiet), located at Kongens Nytorv 1 in central Copenhagen, from 10:00 to 11:30.
