The panel symposium brings together a set of prominent scholars to discuss recent and future research with regards to technological visions, defined as perceptions of what is desirable and feasible in the future, and their pivotal role in shaping emerging fields and industries. This symposium aims to advance our understanding of how diverse stakeholders construct and navigate these visions, influencing new market formations and addressing pressing societal challenges. By drawing on recent research from management and organization theory, the panel explores three key dimensions of technological visions: legitimacy, temporality, and strategic resources. By integrating insights across these dimensions, the panel aims to spark discussions on how organizations craft forward-looking strategies to navigate uncertainty, legitimize emerging fields, and shape the pace and trajectory of field emergence.
