Rising geopolitical risks, including record-high state-based conflicts and growing populism, are transforming the environments in which firms operate. Traditional non-market strategies like Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Corporate Political Activity (CPA) offer some guidance for managing these complex and dynamic risks, yet this string of research is not fully explored. This panel symposium explores how firms adapt their strategies to mitigate geopolitical risks, navigate conflict zones, and contribute to peace while addressing the unintended consequences of their actions. Bridging non-market strategy research with Business and Peace scholarship, the symposium examines three key questions: (1) How are geopolitical risks reshaping firms’ environments? (2) How can firms effectively navigate these risks? (3) How can non-market strategies contribute to peace and stability? Experts from various disciplines will discuss how firms can responsibly manage geopolitical challenges, offering actionable insights to shape a more stable global order.
