This symposium addresses the urgent need for a twin transformation—integrating digital technologies with sustainability efforts. While digital technologies offer opportunities to optimize resource use and reduce consumption, their implementation faces organizational, technological, and regulatory barriers. The symposium brings together scholars from diverse divisions and interest groups at the AOM to develop a better understanding of twin transformations. We aim to identify common themes, challenges, and solutions to accelerate progress. The symposium encourages cross-disciplinary dialogue to foster a more holistic understanding of how digitalization can contribute to sustainability while navigating its unintended consequences. Through panel discussions and audience engagement, the symposium will advance new research directions and collaborations, positioning the twin transformation as a central focus for future academic inquiry and practical application in management and organization studies.
