Entrepreneurship is a key driver of economic growth, fostering technological advancements and creating new business opportunities. However, the entrepreneurial journey is marked by significant uncertainty, requiring entrepreneurs to make critical decisions in the face of unknowns. Several essential pillars underpin the process of building a new venture, including the motivation of the entrepreneur, the composition of the team, and the viability of the idea itself. Decisions regarding these foundational elements are strategic and carry far-reaching implications for the direction and success of the new venture. The highest levels of uncertainty often arise during the earliest stages of venture creation, where numerous variables, particularly the idea and the team, remain fluid and subject to change. While many studies have explored the broader stages of venture creation, there is a notable gap in research focusing specifically on the early stages. Understanding how decisions made during these formative moments shape the trajectory and outcomes of new ventures is crucial for both theory and practice. By examining the earliest phases of the venture creation process, valuable insights can be gained to inform strategic decision-making. These insights can help entrepreneurs navigate the challenges of this uncertain period and lay a stronger foundation for their ventures. Discussions and research that explore these early-stage decisions, whether through conceptual frameworks or empirical evidence, are vital to advancing our understanding of how new ventures emerge and evolve. Through the presentations and discussions at the proposed symposium, which involves both conceptual and empirical studies and both qualitative and quantitative studies, we aim to shed light on the various decisions at the very early stages of the new venture creation process and the potential outcomes of these decisions for the new venture.
