The rise of generative AI has disrupted traditional assessment methods in business education by allowing students to generate essays, reports, and problem solutions with minimal effort. This has raised significant concerns about academic integrity and the validity of assessment. To tackle these concerns, there is an increasing need to focus on cultivating durable skills that are essential for student success in the AI-driven world, such as communication, critical thinking, creativity, leadership, and emotional intelligence. This workshop presents negotiation simulations as a compelling innovative alternative to traditional assessments. These simulations require real-time problem-solving, strategic thinking, and collaboration, skills that cannot be easily generated by AI. The workshop offers practical strategies for incorporating negotiation simulations into course syllabi. Participants will engage in hands-on activities and small group discussions and explore how to design and implement negotiation exercises that foster durable skills. A toolkit of proven negotiation approaches will be provided, empowering educators to design create interactive and inclusive learning environments while addressing the challenges impacted by generative AI.
