This research presents a modular job crafting intervention approach that targets specific strategies: behavioral approach, behavioral avoidance, cognitive approach, and cognitive avoidance crafting. Two randomized controlled intervention studies were conducted. Study 1 included N = 173 German employees and revealed significant improvements in cognitive approach crafting in the intervention group compared to the waiting-list control group, suggesting its effectiveness as a training focus. Study 2 is currently in progress and explores how personal (approach/avoidance temperament) and contextual (autonomy) characteristics influence the selection and effectiveness of these crafting modules. The findings underscore the potential of individualized job crafting interventions to enhance job crafting, which may subsequently improve work engagement and person-job fit, providing valuable insights for future research and organizational practices.
