This study examines how adverse events shape the evolution of professional collaborations in healthcare. Analyzing 179,946 observations from a longitudinal dataset of 13,842 physician dyads in Florida from 2016 to 2021, it investigates whether and how extreme adverse events, such as patient deaths, influence the persistence of dyadic collaborations. The study highlights the role of brokerage in fostering resilience and explores the conditions under which maintaining ties is beneficial or detrimental, offering insights into the literature on tie decay, resilience, and organizational learning.
