This project explores how technology, such as chatbots, can foster psychological safety in teams, which is crucial for team performance. Psychological safety refers to how valued team members feel and their willingness to take interpersonal risks, such as offering ideas in meetings. The project aims to understand how technology can promote equality in turn-taking and identify violations of psychological safety. Using a mixed methods approach, including interviews and field experiments, the project will develop and test a chatbot to enhance psychological safety in team settings. This project will advance interdisciplinary knowledge on psychological safety, conversational turn-taking, and team communication, while also addressing the practical challenge of using technology to promote inclusive behaviors and develop a team climate that supports innovation.
