Multiple intervention-researches have been conducted over the past 30 years, in VSE (less than 12 employees) across different countries, using the socio-economic intervention method (SEAM). A process of listening to all stakeholders, including managers and employees, helps to identify dysfunctions and evaluate the hidden cost and performance that they generate for the VSE. Then, a collaborative innovation process is implemented to envision and negotiate improvement actions to reduce these dysfunctions. These actions improve economic performance by recycling hidden costs into added value. They also enhance the collective dynamics and internal cohesion of the VSE. The systematic analysis of dysfunctions shows that the weaknesses expressed by stakeholders can subsequently become powerful levers for improvement. These weaknesses, once defined and accepted by all, become opportunities to improve the socio-economic performance of the VSE.
