This study investigates the drivers of greenwashing and sustainability disclosures within the tea sector, an underexplored industry facing significant environmental and social challenges. Through a mixed-methods approach, including content analysis of 150 tea companies and statistical modeling, the research identifies key drivers such as company size, social media presence, and transparency through sustainability reports. Findings reveal that greenwashing is more prevalent in environmental claims, particularly among manufacturers, while traders are less prone. The study underscores the need for stricter regulatory frameworks, robust certifications, and consistent reporting standards to combat greenwashing and promote authentic sustainability practices.
