Developing a mentorship mindset is important for MBA students as they seek to enhance their career trajectory by developing their skills both as mentors and leaders. As a complement to traditional functional educational areas such as management, accounting, and finance, we instituted a near-peer mentoring program by pairing MBA students as mentors to undergraduate business students. Specifically, we recruited, selected, paired, and trained students in the master’s program to enhance their mentoring skills and develop a mentorship mindset. We review the empirical literature on mentorship outcomes and describe the mentoring program in detail focusing specifically on the changes for those in mentor roles. We discuss quantitative and qualitative evidence highlighting changes in the treatment versus comparison groups for mentors who participated in the program
